We market and manufacture the highest quality, portion controlled meat products, specializing in burgers at one facility, and a wide range of innovative and fully cooked meats at another. Both facilities are HACCP recognized, utilizing leading technologies and production methods.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Jack Cator was telling stories of learning to prepare a steer for sale with a sledgehammer and a knife. It may sound old fashioned, but only some 80 years ago this family business was buying a steer from local farmers, butchering in a barn and peddling meat from farm to farm to feed the farm hands. Although we are not sure how relevant that training is in today's world of Federally inspected production facilities and world class food safety standards, it sure does add to the richness and traditions of Cardinal Meat Specialists founded in 1966 by Jack's son, Ralph Cator. Although the skills required for slaughtering an animal may not be relevant today, the history and experience gleaned from growing up as a family business dedicated to producing the highest quality meat products available is relevant.
The Cator family has a long and rich history starting on the farm, to running butcher shops in Bowmanville and Toronto, to producing burgers in Mississauga and now cooking some of Canada's most innovative and high quality meats available.
It is with pride that we continue these traditions and at the same time remain committed to innovation and state of the art technology in order to provide the safest, most consistent and highest quality products available. Under the stewardship of Brent Cator, the company is committed to its long-term success in the meat business.
